The work from home trend continues to gain momentum. Homeowners are requesting more dedicated working and learning spaces. Architects are designing and developers are building homes with more office spaces. The UC-MM30-R Tabletop Conference Device for Crestron Home® OS, is the perfect all-in-one solution for these applications.
The UC-MM30-R is our lowest priced desktop 7-inch touch screen controller, plus it leverages our professional-quality conferencing technology. It features a native Crestron Home® app experience and the ability to easily plug-in a laptop or desktop computer via USB, which enables the enterprise-grade speaker and 360-degree microphone array built directly into the unit.
I just recently received my own UC-MM30-R and it is now my go-to audio solution for my trainings, meetings, and voice calls with colleagues. Unboxing was a snap and I had the unit up and running with my existing Crestron Home system in less than 10 minutes. I didn’t have a cable directly from my network switch to deliver power, but the Wi-Fi® and PoE capabilities in the unit made connecting a breeze. I was genuinely surprised at how easy setup was, and I believe you will find the steps in this process to be just as simple:
-
1. Unboxed the unit and powered it up using a local POE injector
-
2. Unit powered up and prompted me to connect to my local Wi-Fi connection. Entered Wi-Fi password and unit came online.
-
3. The panel prompted me to “Discover Home” or “Add manually”
-
4. I selected “Discover Home.” My processor showed in the list. I selected it then entered my Friendly Name and my User Interface Password.
-
5. The app loaded and I selected my office as the room where it was located.
-
6. plugged the USB cable into the back of the UC-MM30-R and plugged the other end into my desktop.

It’s been a refreshing experience. Before, I needed to make sure my wireless headset was turned on and had enough battery to last through my entire meeting. I have since set the default speaker and microphone for Zoom Rooms™ and Microsoft Teams® software to the UC-MM30-R, so I no longer need to worry about whether I have the right input device when I’m joining a call.
Another benefit of now having this on my desk, is the ability to make macros for starting my day or starting a meeting. I’ve created a “Good Morning” and “Meeting” button.
My Good Morning button turns on the lights in my office and kitchen, starts playing my favorite radio station in the office, and sets the heat a little higher. My “Meeting” button shuts off the music and ensures the lights in the office are on.
The convenience of control directly on my desk, great sound quality from speaker and microphone, and ease of use make this device a must-have in every home. The need for this device has become especially apparent as our homes turned into our primary workspaces, which does not seem likely to change any time soon. Every Crestron Home deployment should have a UC-MM30-R in each office space.
